FAQ

The AASCU Advocacy Center is the action hub of our policy work. Our Government Relations (GR) team works with legislators to address the most pressing issues facing AASCU institutions. By engaging with the AASCU advocacy center, members can:

  • Learn more about the most pressing issues facing AASCU institutions
  • Directly participate in short and long-term action campaigns and advocacy efforts
  • Submit surveys that inform AASCU’s policy priorities
  • Keep up to date on AASCU’s efforts to educate Congress on the value of Regional Comprehensive Universities (RCUs).

The Weekly Federal Policy newsletter offers news updates from the GR team regarding policy, regulatory, and legislative affairs, including the following types of content:

  • High-level summaries of our advocacy campaigns
  • Links to advocacy-related blogs
  • Federal policy updates

We hope you’ll use our Weekly Federal Policy newsletter to return to the Advocacy Center informed and ready to help us move the needle.

Participants must opt-in to receive AASCU Advocacy Center updates. Signing up for our alerts allows us to facilitate time-sensitive and important advocacy campaigns in which your legislator needs to hear you and your institution’s voice (e.g. before a vote or a bill is moved out of committee).

Pressing issues typically emerge every 2-3 months.

Acting on a campaign means using our system to reach out to your federal official about a particular issue. The system will use your address to match you with your elected official. The bulk of the information will be pre-populated within each campaign, but you will often have space to add input and your personal story as a constituent.

Our system will automatically send your message to your elected official’s staff, and they may get back to you to further engage on the issue.
