When AASCU Asks, Members Respond

By Randy R. McClanahan

AASCU is well positioned to meet member needs and expectations, say the 234 presidents and chancellors who responded to a recent survey.

Staff worked with ACT, Inc., to design and conduct an online survey, which asked 431 top administrators at AASCU member institutions and systems to provide direction for the association’s future strategic plans and priorities, and for existing programs and services. More than half (54.5 percent) completed the survey. The results will help AASCU continue to provide strong leadership and services for its members.

The relatively high response rate gives the association adequate data from which to draw conclusions about the impressions and opinions of the membership, said Steve Robbins, vice president of research for ACT. “AASCU can use the findings from the study with confidence when making plans for the future.” Many of the participants also provided thoughtful written responses to some questions.

Respondents gave “high importance” ratings to all five of AASCU’s current strategic directions and to most of the 19 programs and services it provides to members.
