Please join us for another extraordinary Academic Affairs summer conference, a professional development event set in the historic city of Boston, Massachusetts.  We continue to explore the theme of the Learning-Centered University.

We begin with the Workshop for New Provosts that starts at 1:30 pm on Thursday, July 24th. There is no extra charge for this workshop.  If you are a new or interim provost, please plan to arrive in Boston in time to participate in this.

Our opening event at 4:00 pm on Thursday afternoon will be a presentation by Derek Bok, author of Our Underachieving Colleges.  Friday morning we will continue our focus on Learning-Centered Institutions with a presentation by John Tagg, author of the widely influential 1995 article in Change magazine, “From Teaching to Learning: A New Paradigm for Undergraduate Education.”  John subsequently wrote the book The Learning Paradigm College

Later in the program we will hear from two speakers who represent fast-growing areas of institutional and curricular focus.  Pamela Tate, President of the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning (CAEL), will describe ways that institutions can focus on adult and life-long learners.  Debra Rowe, President, U.S. Partnership for Education for Sustainable Development and Co-Coordinator of the Higher Education Associations’ Sustainability Consortium, Washington D.C. will describe recent initiatives in the sustainability movement.

Our program concludes Sunday morning, July 27th, with our ever-popular seminar: Seeking the Presidency (8:00 – 11:00 am).  There is no charge for this workshop.  If you wish to participate, be sure to arrange to leave Boston after noon on Sunday.
