About the Student

Typrina Kasimiro
is a junior at the University of Guam majoring in Business
Administration with an emphasis in Human Resources.
Typrina’s family is from Chuuk, a small island chain in
Micronesia. Typrina is the first in her family to finish high school,
and the first to attend college. In 2011, she will be the first female
of Chuukese decent to be commissioned as a second
lieutenant from the University of Guam’s Army ROTC program.
She admits she had to break several cultural barriers to get where she
is today.
