About AASCU

AASCU is a not-for-profit, voluntary membership, non-governmentalpresidential higher education association, representing 430 accredited public colleges and universities and systems of public higher education throughout the United States and its territories.

  1. Over 3.6 million students attend our universities; 55% of all enrollment in public 4 year academic institutions
  2. over 3% of all enrolled students are international
  3. approximately 60% of all teachers receiving credential each year in the United States are prepared on our campuses.

  3. to provide program support for senior administrators to strengthen academic quality, increase access and inclusion
  4. to create professional development opportunities for senior leaders (presidents, chancellors, spouses and other senior administrators)

Additional Activities

Arlene Jackson has traveled to Oman in to give a keynote speech at a Gulf States regional conference sponsored by the government of Oman and UNESCO, provided a workshop for students interested in study in the United States, and promoted AASCU institutions. Additionally, she traveled to South Africa to give a keynote speech at the International Education Association of South Africa (IEASA) national conference and wit h sponsorship from the U. S. Department of State she conducted workshops in Durban, Capetown, and Johannesburg for chief international administrators and other senior leaders on how to make their institutions more effective in internationalization efforts by working with AASCU institutions.

Finally, we continue to host a number of international delegations at AASCU, where we provide briefings on American higher education and the work of AASCU institutions.



AASCU encourages international students who are interested in studying in America to use the services of United States Education Advisors who are located around the world. U.S. Advising Centers can be found by checking the EducationUSA website. Those advisors can then use this web page to help international students consider whether an AASCU college or university is right for them.
