AASCU is pleased to announce Kellee Edmonds as its next vice
president for communications and public relations. Edmonds' more than 25 years
of experience in the communications field includes, most recently, four years as
the senior director of communications and marketing at the National Association
of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO), where she developed and
executed integrated communications and marketing strategies which advanced NACUBO’s
strategic priorities, served as the primary liaison for media, and created
outreach strategies aimed at extending NACUBO’s public profile and visibility.
As associate director of public affairs and, later, director of communications
for the American Council on Education’s Higher
Education for Development (HED) program, Edmonds managed HED’s branding and
digital strategies, its website and social media platforms, and coordinated media
outreach for major ACE research projects, including the Minorities in Higher Education Annual Status Report. Additionally,
she has served as a producer, writer, researcher and reporter for several
televised news programs in Maryland, Virginia, Texas and Washington, D.C.
Edmonds received her Master of Arts in Public
Communication from American University in Washington, D.C. and her Bachelor of
Journalism, Broadcast News from the University of Texas at Austin. She is a
Public Relations Society of America, Award of Excellence Recipient (2001) and
National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, Two-Time Emmy Nominee (1997).
As the AASCU vice president for communications and public relations, Edmonds will oversee the AASCU Communications team; the production of AASCU’s
communications products and its electronic communications, including website
and social media; and will ensure the division supports the public relations
activities of professionals at AASCU member institutions. AASCU looks forward to welcoming Edmonds in her
new role on March 18.
