Washington, D.C.--University System of Maryland (USM) Chancellor Robert L. Caret will deliver a speech at the American Academic Leadership Institute (AALI) Luncheon at the American Association of State Colleges and University’s (AASCU) annual meeting in San Diego, Calif.
Leaders of state colleges and universities need an exceptional skill set to be successful in the complex and challenging landscape that is public higher education today. AASCU offers seven leadership programs sponsored in partnership with AALI that focus on presidential success.
Dr. Caret exemplifies
the leadership traits developed in these programs. During the luncheon at 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 23, Dr. Caret will discuss the importance of reestablishing higher education’s critical leadership role in civic education, engagement, and responsibility.
With over 20 years in public higher education leadership, Dr. Caret became USM chancellor in 2015 and has also served as president of the University of Massachusetts System, Towson University, and San Jose State University. Active in the national higher education
community, Dr. Caret sits on the AASCU and Business-Higher Education Forum boards, National Security Higher Education Advisory Board, Southern Regional Higher Education Board, Higher Ed for Higher Standards Board of Advisors, and the Government University Industry Research
Roundtable.
Approximately 200 presidents and chancellors from around the country will attend the annual meeting, which runs from Saturday, Oct. 21 – Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2017.
