Join us for the AASCU 2022 Annual Conference, AASCU’s premier gathering of presidents, chancellors, spouses/partners, and former presidents and chancellors.

Cabinet members are invited to join virtually for select plenary sessions. Virtual registration will include livestreams and recordings of the plenary sessions, as well as access to the meeting app and resources.

About the Conference

The 2022 Annual Conference has been designed to support learning, networking, and reflecting on multiple levels, and will include:

  • Inspiring plenary sessions focused on the unique value proposition of regional public institutions and how we tell the story of our collective impact, as well as trends impacting higher education, social justice and equity, updates from the Hill, and more
  • Engaging workshops for participants to reflect, network, share promising practices and connect with thought leaders
  • Networking and connecting opportunities during meals, receptions, committee meetings, and affinity group gatherings

We will take full advantage of the California sunshine and the lush grounds and gardens at the Park Hyatt Aviara.

Registration for in-person participants includes:

  • All plenary sessions, concurrent sessions, and networking sessions
  • Meal functions (reception on Sunday evening; breakfast, lunch, and dinner on Monday; and breakfast, lunch, and reception on Tuesday)
  • Access to recordings of plenary sessions
  • Access to the meeting app and all meeting resources
  • The opportunity to take advantage of AASCU-negotiated discounted room rates at the Park Hyatt Aviara

*Virtual attendees may connect to plenary sessions and participate in real time in the Q&A. They will also have access to the recordings following the meeting, as well as the meeting app. Recordings will be posted 7–10 days following the meeting.

Cabinet members may register to connect virtually to plenary sessions and access on-demand recordings following the meeting.

All changes and cancellations must be in writing. Refunds will only be available for in-person registrations.

Cancellation Policy:
To receive a refund of the registration fee, a written cancellation must be received by AASCU by Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, 5 p.m. ET.

Cancellations received later than Friday, Oct. 28, 2022, 5 p.m. ET, will incur a 25% cancellation/administrative fee. No refunds will be issued for cancellations received after Nov. 3, 2022, or no-shows.

  • All changes and cancellations must be in writing.
  • All refunds will be issued within 21 days of the receipt of the refund request.
  • When writing to cancel or submit a refund request, email Felicia Durham, registrar, at durhamf@aascu.org and include “AC22 Cancellation” in the subject line. Please indicate to whom and where the refund should be issued.

Book early to receive an excellent rate for the recently renovated Park Hyatt Aviara. Once rooms sell out, the group rate will not be available, and rooms are currently selling online for $700 and more.

Situated amid 200 acres on Southern California’s sun-drenched Pacific coast, the Park Hyatt Aviara is a coastal resort located in Carlsbad, north of downtown San Diego. Surrounded by natural beauty and tranquility, the resort is perched atop a high ridge on the shore of Batiquitos Lagoon, a beautiful wildlife sanctuary overlooking the Pacific Ocean.

Reservations should be confirmed prior to Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2022. Reservation requests after Oct. 19 will be accepted as space is available and at market rates.

All rooms are subject to taxes, which is currently 10%. A $3 City Tourism Tax and a California Tourism Assessment Fee of $1 per room per night will be charged. Taxes and assessments are subject to change.

Resort Fee

AASCU’s waived resort fee of $40 will include: daily fitness classes; in-room Premium Illy coffee and assorted tea selection and bottled water; access to the 24-hour Fitness Center; premium internet service; discounted spa access at $50 per day (normally $70); overnight shoe shine service; daily newspaper; daily infused water and Arnold Palmer beverages in the lobby (12–5 p.m.); machine wash and machine dry for workout gear only (up to 6 items with a 24-hour turnaround); preferred treatment for tee time, spa treatment, restaurant, and tennis court reservations; access to the Business Center and boarding pass printing, local and toll free calls, faxes, and scans; access to the Game Room; access to the hotel pool and hot tubs; access to the driving range and putting greens, with range balls provided; use of golf bag storage; use of the Tennis Center, complete with tennis rackets and tennis balls; access to sand volleyball courts with volleyballs; access to Recreational Center activities including croquet, horseshoes, badminton, and bocce ball and respective equipment; access to beach amenities, including towels, beach chairs, umbrellas, and sand toys; shuttle service to Carlsbad Premium Outlets.

Cancellation Policy

Should you need to cancel your reservation, notice must be given to the hotel at least 72 hours in advance of your arrival date to avoid a one-night deposit fee.


Guest accommodation will be available at 4 p.m. on arrival day and reserved until 11 a.m. on departure day. Note: All requests for early check-in are REQUESTS and may or may not be accommodated.

Any attendee who would like to be considered for late checkout should inquire at the front desk on the day of departure or at the time of reservation.

All attendees must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19 to attend the AASCU 2022 Annual Conference. Upload proof of vaccine status via the Spartan Medical Vaccine Verification and Tracking App. If you have provided your proof of vaccination for a previous in-person AASCU event, you do not need to upload it again.
