WASHINGTON, January 4, 2021 – The American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) is pleased to announce Kathleen Scott as the new vice president for Leadership Development and Partnerships.

Scott currently serves as director of Organizational Excellence and Administrative Operations at California State University (CSU), Fresno. She’s held that position since 2013. She’s also held leadership positions at two community colleges: Sussex County Community College in New Jersey and Central Community College in Nebraska. Furthermore, she has experience in marketing, capital campaign, and fundraising, having served in leadership positions at places such as the United Way of Fresno and Saint Agnes Medical Center.

“We are thrilled that Kathleen Scott has agreed to join AASCU,” said AASCU President Mildred García. “Her experience in fundraising, leadership development, and several sectors in higher ed will bring new perspectives to our work.”

Scott possesses deep leadership and change management experience, which will be critical to this role as AASCU expands and strengthens its suite of professional development offerings. At Fresno State, she worked closely with President Joseph I. Castro, the incoming chancellor of the CSU System.

Castro appointed Scott to lead Fresno State’s university-wide strategic planning efforts and tapped her to launch several professional development programs, including the President’s Leadership Academy, a yearlong program aimed at emerging academic and administrative professionals.

“I am deeply honored and excited to join the AASCU team and look forward to continuing the tradition of excellence in leadership development offerings, as well as exploring new ways we can serve our members given today’s challenges,” Scott said.

She earned her MBA from Fresno State and a Bachelor of Science degree in Marketing from Fairfield University in Connecticut. She begins her role at AASCU Jan. 25.
