CAO and CBO Collaborations: Working Together for Financial Sustainability

Gain practical tools and have deep conversations about the unique economic challenges—and opportunities—facing higher education institutions.

Contact us.

The relationship between the chief academic officer (CAO) and the chief business officer (CBO) has become even more critical to ensure effective leadership of colleges and universities.

The CAO and CBO—together—must develop and execute a clear strategy, align priorities and resources, and innovate.

To better understand and support this relationship, AASCU and the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO) will bring CAOs and CBOs together to gain practical tools and to have deep conversations about the unique economic challenges—and opportunities—facing higher education institutions.

Interactive, conversation-based sessions will include:
  • Working across cultures: the CAO-CBO partnership
  • Creating thriving institutions through CAO-CBO collaboration
  • Finding paths to institutional financial sustainability
  • CAO and CBO roles in ensuring affordability and value

Who should attend:

  • Provosts from AASCU and/or NACUBO member institutions
  • Chief financial officers/chief business officers from AASCU and/or NACUBO member institutions
  • Both the CAO and CBO from the same institution must participate

Benefits of participation:

  • Insight into the latest research on the state of the higher education sector
  • Time to participate in deep, facilitated discussions with colleagues from your own institution and peer institutions
  • Gain practical tools and replicable case studies to create thriving institutions
