Jerel Benton currently serves as the special assistant to the provost and interim associate vice president for student success at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. Under his leadership, he provides direction for the Office of Student Success, including Academic Advising and Coaching, Academic Testing, Student Success Data and Technology, Academic Support and Mentoring, Federal Student Programs, and the Center for Athletic Academic Services. Benton received his Doctor of Education from Eastern Kentucky University, Master of Arts in adult and higher education from Morehead State University (Ky.), and Bachelor of Science in nursing from Western Kentucky University. His previous roles include senior diversity officer at University of Wisconsin-Superior and associate director of university assessment and testing and minority retention coordinator at Morehead State University.
