AASCU Welcomes Matthew Ceppi as the New Executive Director of AASCU Consulting

WASHINGTON, August 18, 2021 – Matthew Ceppi, Ed.D., has joined the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) as the new executive director of AASCU Consulting.

AASCU Consulting (formerly the AASCU-Penson Center for Professional Development) offers current college and university presidents, chancellors, and their executive teams tailored services to navigate big changes and build for the future. Services include board development; executive coaching; leadership assessment and development; organization and team development; leadership transition and succession management; financial, administrative, and facilities evaluations; enrollment management; and shared governance.

Ceppi brings more than 23 years of experience in higher education to the position, including 19 years at the California State University (CSU) system. At CSU, Ceppi served as associate vice president and chief of staff at CSU San Marcos and director, systemwide quality improvement, at the CSU Office of the Chancellor.

“We’re thrilled that Matt has joined AASCU and will be leading AASCU Consulting,” AASCU President Mildred García, Ed.D., said. “His expertise as a consultant and member of institutional executive teams gives him a unique perspective to build on the success and impact of this important service.”

Ceppi previously served as the chief operating officer for the higher education professional services firm Strata Information Group and a consulting principal at CliftonLarsonAllen LLP. He has led consulting practices that assisted higher education clients in planning and executing new strategies, performing large-scale and targeted transformation, and developing sustainable business models.

Ceppi holds a doctorate from Creighton University (Neb.) and is a proud alumnus of public higher education, having received his bachelor’s degree from AASCU member California Polytechnic State University. He also serves as an instructor of practice on human capital management and strategy. Ceppi joined AASCU on Aug. 5.
