Allison Garrett plays a critical role in the higher education practice at the national law firm of Spencer Fane, resolving complex regulatory, administrative, operational, and transactional issues specific to public and private universities. Prior to entering higher education, Garrett served as the vice president and general counsel for Walmart’s corporate-level legal services. After faculty and administrative roles in higher education, Garrett served as the president of Emporia State University (KS) for more than five years. She also served as vice chair of the NCAA Board of Governors, a member of the NCAA Audit Committee, and chair of the NCAA Division II Presidents’ Council.
Garrett most recently served as chancellor for the Oklahoma State Regents for Higher Education, where she oversaw 25 public colleges and universities. During her tenure, the state system completed a bold new strategic plan, received record investment increases from the state, and increased enrollment.
