Gabriela Torres

Senior Program Officer

Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

Gabriela Torres is a senior program officer on the Postsecondary Success Team at the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Torres supports a number of partners related to the foundation’s Intermediaries for Scale strategy. Intermediaries for Scale recognize that postsecondary success is crucial to economic and social mobility, and that it is not acceptable that some students—especially Black, Indigenous, Latinx, and low-income students—face specific and systemic barriers that prevent them from realizing the full value of postsecondary education. Prior to her time at the foundation, she’s held roles including assistant director of campus life for multicultural and leadership programs at Saint Xavier University, Latino knowledge community representative for NASPA, and graduate research assistant in the Office of Evaluation and Educational Effectiveness at Arizona State University and senior director of postsecondary support at OneGoal, the nation’s only teacher-led college persistence organization. Torres holds a master’s degree in higher and postsecondary education from Arizona State University and a B.A. in Hispanic studies from Boston College.
