John Sessler
Director of Professional Learner, Ready To Learn
PBS KIDS
John Sessler is the director of professional learning for Ready To Learn at PBS KIDS and is committed to designing experiences that develop learners’ empathy, curiosity, reflection, and critical thinking. He brings nearly two decades of experience working in education as a teacher, program director, and curriculum designer. Sessler has designed and facilitated both synchronous and asynchronous learning experiences in collaboration with PBS KIDS, the Right Question Institute, Harvard Graduate School of Education, National Geographic, and the Library of Congress Teaching with Primary Sources Program. Currently, Sessler is leveraging his experience in educator engagement and learning design to collaborate with PBS stations that are co-designing statewide professional learning for early childhood educators. Sessler was a 2020–2022 New America Learning Sciences Exchange Fellow and holds an Ed.M. from the Harvard Graduate School of Education (MA) and a B.S. from Northwestern University (IL).
