Kara Lindaman

Kara Lindaman is the dean of the College of Liberal Arts at Winona State University (MN). The college leads the campus community to consider the most pressing issues of the day from multiple perspectives, proven high-impact learning practices, and shared experiences.

As a faculty member in the Department of Political Science, Public Administration and Ethnic Studies, Lindaman was the campus coordinator of the American Democracy Project from 2008 to 2022, where she participated in numerous initiatives focusing on student success and democratic deliberation.

Winona State received the Minnesota Secretary of State’s Ballot Bowl Award in 2016, 2018, 2020, and 2022 for registering the highest percentage of students as voters for the Minnesota State system, and it earned national recognition through the National Study of Learning, Voting, and Engagement reports.

Lindaman was an ambassador of the National Issues Forums Institute Board of Directors, a research deputy for the Kettering Foundation, and also served as the NCAA faculty athletic representative for Winona State. Currently she is a member of the design team for AASCU’s Leading for Democracy initiative.
