Laurie Mullen

Laurie Mullen is professor and dean of the College of Education at Towson University (MD). Her research interests are in the areas of teacher education, curriculum, university-school partnerships, and educational technologies for teaching and learning. Mullen earned her B.S. in secondary education and Spanish from Southern Illinois University and an M.Ed. and a Ph.D. in curriculum and instruction from the University of Illinois. Mullen served for 18 years at Ball State University (IN) as professor and associate dean of the Teachers College. Since coming to the College of Education at Towson University in 2015, she has led several initiatives, including a first-ever strategic plan for diversity, equity, and inclusion and a 25% increase of underrepresented students in educator preparation. She also significantly increased of the number of external funding proposals and launched a new Office of Research and Evaluation.

She has served on the boards of the American Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and the Maryland Association of Colleges for Teacher Education and is past president of the Teacher Education Council of State Colleges and Universities.
