Saad Merayyan

Saad M. Merayyan is professor and chair of the Department of Civil Engineering at California State University, Sacramento, with a specialization in water resources engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in civil and environmental engineering from Wayne State University (MI) and brings over 20 years of experience in higher education, applied research, and public service.

As lead faculty of the Water Resources Engineering program, Merayyan has played a pivotal role in shaping academic and research initiatives within the department. He is the co-founder and vice president for academic affairs of the Jordanian Alumni of North America, where he has organized multiple international educational forums. His leadership extends to public policy, having served as a water policy advisor to the Executive Office—Secretary and Undersecretary—of the California Department of Food and Agriculture.

Merayyan’s career is marked by interdisciplinary research, extensive service on academic committees, and a deep commitment to advancing water resource sustainability through education, innovation, and cross-sector collaboration.
