Elizabeth Bennion is chancellor’s professor of political science and director of community engagement at Indiana University South Bend, where she is also the long-time director of the campus American Democracy Project. Bennion promotes informed and engaged citizenship as a TV host, civic leader, frequent media commentator, and state debate commissioner and has received numerous local, state, and national teaching and service awards. Her more than 80 published works include large-scale, voter mobilization field experiments, best practice guides to promoting and assessing civic learning, critical reflections on race and gender, and three co-edited books on teaching civic engagement. Her success as a civic educator, debate organizer, event moderator, TV host, and researcher has been recognized with awards from the League of Women Voters, Chamber of Commerce, South Bend Common Council, American Political Science Association, American Association of State Colleges and Universities, Campus Compact, and National Capital Area Political Science Association.
