Mary Currin-Percival is associate professor of political science at San José State University (SJSU) in California. She also serves as director of the Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (IPACE) and she is the founding director of SJSU Votes, a nonpartisan campus voter registration, mobilization, education, and civic engagement initiative. At SJSU, she also serves as the campus civic and voter empowerment coordinator, American Democracy Project coordinator, and advisor for Pi Sigma Alpha, Epsilon Iota Chapter. She is co-author of California’s Recall Election of Gavin Newsom: COVID-19 and the Test of Leadership (Routledge, 2023) and co-author of California Politics and Government: A Practical Approach, 15th ed. (Cengage, 2021). She teaches courses focused on American and California politics, elections and political participation, research methods, and internships in political science.
