Participants will examine strategies, partnerships, resources, data, and collaboration needed to strengthen teacher preparation pathways through expert panels, interactive workshops, and collaborative discussions across various stakeholders.

This impactful and inspiring event will bring together key stakeholders dedicated to supporting and bolstering K-12 education. The convening is designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and sustainable strategies necessary to attract, prepare, and retain a high-quality educator workforce.

Chief academic officers and educator preparation program leaders will engage with P-12 education leaders, community college leaders, state and system leaders, education thought leaders and philanthropic partners to dive deep into the complexities of solving local teacher shortages while providing highly – prepared and high-quality teachers for every student.

The CAO and Academic Dean from the same institution are encouraged to attend together.

  • Gain Insights into Promising Practices: Participants will engage in facilitated discussions to explore ways to adapt and implement promising practices at their institutions.
  • Design Collaborative and Actionable Strategies: Participants will work across roles and organizations to design effective, collaborative approaches to strengthen teacher preparation pathways at scale.
  • Examine Teacher Shortage Data: Comprehensive teacher shortage data can be difficult to acquire or interpret, especially for local school districts that AASCU campuses serve. Participants will learn about data strategies and resources to inform their action plan.
  • Enhance Policy Advocacy Skills: Participants will learn how to effectively advocate for supportive educator preparation policies and legislation in their region and state.
  • Build a Strong Community and Network: Establish and strengthen connections with multiple organizations and stakeholders to foster ongoing collaboration and support for the preparation of highly skilled educators at regional public universities.
