Adriana Gordillo

Dr. Adriana Gordillo is a native of Colombia, where she got a BA in History from Universidad del Valle, Cali, Colombia. She came to the US with a scholarship to do her MA in Spanish at the University of Cincinnati and then a Ph.D. in Hispanic & Lusophone Literatures, Cultures, and Linguistics from the University of Minnesota. Dr. Gordillo was the chair of World Languages & Cultures for five years, a position where she developed new programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, promoted linguistic diversity and led discussions about the intersections of language, race, and culture. She is a HERS alumna and has served on several MSU committees, including the Global Education Advisory Board and the Curriculum Committee. She is interested in collaborative work that builds innovative and cooperative curricula among multiple Minnesota State System campuses. Dr. Gordillo recently secured a contract to publish her first poetry book and is the co-founder of Prifmata Collective. This group seeks to fuel our power to overcome traumatic circumstances by exchanging ideas, generating interdisciplinary collaboration, and inspiring and nurturing our imagination.
