Leadership Development Program Endorsement Form

Endorse candidates for the Becoming a Provost Academy, Emerging Leaders Program, Executive Leadership Academy, and Millennium Leadership Initiative.

Please complete the following form to endorse a candidate for BAPA, ELA, ELP, and/or MLI.

You may endorse more than one candidate; please submit a new form for each person.
Please only submit endorsement(s) for applicants from your own institution.
Endorsements must be submitted by February 5, 2024.
After you complete this form, both you and the candidate will receive confirmation that the endorsement was submitted. The candidate will receive a confirmation email once their submission is complete (this may take 2-3 business days after submitting application and endorsement).

Becoming a Provost Academy (BAPA): for experienced deans, assistant or associate provosts, and other academic affairs senior administrators who aspire to become a provost. Preference is given to candidates from AASCU member institutions. → More information.

Emerging Leaders Program (ELP): for academic and administrative professionals who are exploring opportunities to advance to higher administrative positions. Preference is given to candidates from AASCU member institutions. → More information.

Executive Leadership Academy (ELA): vice presidents and cabinet-level officers aspiring to presidencies and other senior executive positions. → More information.

Millennium Leadership Initiative (MLI): for vice presidents and cabinet-level officers traditionally underrepresented (women, people of color, LGBTQIA etc.) who are one to two career advancements away from becoming a university president. Preference is given to candidates from AASCU and APLU member institutions. → More information.

BAPA Program Format and Timeline

The 2024-25 BAPA program will be a blended experience, with in-person and virtual programming. In-person programming will not be livestreamed or otherwise recorded. 100% attendance and participation is expected.

Two in-person seminars (July 19-21, 2024 and July 2025) which will be held in conjunction with AASCU’s Academic Affairs Summer Meetings.
Virtual interactive sessions on topics of critical importance to the roles and responsibilities of the chief academic officer and for the successful administration of a college or university.
The creation of a Professional Experience Plan (PEP), a highly individualized plan of activities developed by the participant and his or her mentor.
Mentorship by both the participant’s campus mentor and the program director designed to fill the identified gaps in the participant’s expertise and experience.

ELP Program Format and Timeline

The 2024 ELP will be a blended experience, with in-person and virtual programming. In-person programming will not be livestreamed or otherwise recorded. 100% attendance and participation is expected. Virtual programming will take place on select Wednesdays and Fridays between 3 and 5 p.m. ET (exact dates TBD).

Up to twelve interactive 60- to 120-minute virtual sessions (May and August-December)
An intensive in-person program at AASCU’s Washington, DC office, June 24-26, 2024.
A project or initiative the participant leads on their home campus or community

ELA Program Format and Timeline

The 2024 ELA program will be a blended experience, with in-person and virtual programming. In-person programming will not be livestreamed or otherwise recorded. 100% attendance and participation is expected.

Two seminars in Washington, DC: June 13–15, 2024, and June 13-14, 2025.
Virtual interactive sessions throughout the year to provide additional content and networking opportunities.
The creation of a highly individualized Professional Experience Plan (PEP) designed to fill “gaps” in the participant’s expertise and experience.
Mentorship by both the participant’s current president and the program director.

MLI Program Format and Timeline

The 2024-25 MLI program will be a blended experience, with in-person and virtual programming. In-person programming will not be livestreamed or otherwise recorded. 100% attendance and participation is expected. Virtual programming will take place on select Tuesdays between 3 and 5 p.m. ET (exact dates TBD).

Up to seven interactive 60- to 120-minute virtual sessions (May and August-March)
An opening in-person program at AASCU’s Washington, DC office, June 12-15, 2024
A closing in-person program at AASCU’s Washington, DC office, March 19-21 2025
Mentoring with current AASCU presidents and chancellors (September 2024-March 2025)
