Ryan Maltese has spent more than two decades in higher education administration, serving in a variety of roles across development, academic affairs, student affairs, and student success. He has also taught a variety of undergraduate courses in political science, education, and new student orientation and has been a member of the Georgia Bar for more than 20 years.
As associate vice president for student success and retention, Maltese is responsible for the coordination of the overall student retention effort at Morgan State University (MD). He provides quality support for students from admission to graduation, managing a complementary system of continuity across the undergraduate life cycle, with the goal of continuously increasing the university’s retention and graduation rates. He provides direct supervision over the areas of academic advising, orientation, summer/transition programs, alumni mentoring programs, and the Center for Academic Success and Achievement. He also serves on multiple committees and manages multiple grant initiatives operating through the Division of Enrollment Management and Student Success.
