Communications Plan

Student-centered course scheduling is both a technical and a change-management effort. While data and analysis surface where schedules create barriers to student progress, meaningful change depends on how well that work is understood, supported, and acted on across campus.

This communications plan is designed to help teams intentionally align audiences, messages, and moments as the work unfolds—so the right people understand the work, see its value, and take the actions needed to move it forward.

Rather than attempting to communicate everything to everyone at all times, this approach helps teams:

• Clarify who matters most at different stages of the work
• Anticipate perceptions, concerns, and narratives that may shape buy-in or resistance
• Focus communications around key milestones and decisions, not just updates
• Translate data and insights into messages that enable action

This plan draws on best practices from the AASCU Student-Centered Course Scheduling initiative and is organized into three steps that build on one another, each corresponding to a key phase of the work and the resources available to support it.
